Frequently Asked Questions
Where does the stuff go that you don't sell i.e. salvage bales?
Products we call soft goods are clothing, linens, curtains, blankets, stuffed animals, Etc. It is baled up into 1,100 Lbs. bales and sold to a broker by the pound. Shoes that do not or will not sell are paired and crated and sold to buyers for repurposing. Any metal good we receive is sold to a local recycler by the pound. Cardboard and certain paper goods are baled up and sold for recycling. The funds for this go back into service to the community.
What makes Salvation Army different from other thrift stores?
The Salvation Army uses the funds from the family store operation to meet needs for those in need with the necessary food, clothing and or furniture to continue life functions free of charge. Family stores also help enable us to provide financial assistance for rent and utility bills.
When will more products be coming out?
Do you accept Televisions?
We cannot accept televisions for 3 reasons:
- Analogue televisions are no longer sought after by customers
- We have no way to recycle them without additional cost to The Salvation army and our waste hauler will not accept them for disposal.
- Locally the city lifted the ban and trash collectors will pick up used televisions.
What is the money used for from the thrift store?
Funds generated by the family store operation go back into direct services for those in need in our community.
