The Salvation Army has changed lives and given hope to countless people throughout the nation. But it never does it alone.

Volunteer opportunities to ring bells, beginning November 10th. Those interested should contact Erin Wetzel at 304-343-4548 x 50206 or [email protected] . Those interested in applying to work as a paid bell ringer should contact Lucinda Jarrell at 304-343-4548 x 50205 or [email protected] .

It’s people just like you who make our programs possible by choosing to give your time. Volunteer opportunities vary depending on where you live, but all of our locations need volunteers throughout the year.

When you join our team of volunteers, you’re helping us build communities where lives are changed and hope is found. Volunteers are one of our strongest resources in meeting the needs of a community.

Boys and Girls Clubs

Tutor: (Charleston and St Albans) Tutors will provide one on one instruction with club members after school between the hours of 2:30-5:30pm, Monday-Friday.

Homework Helper Assistant: (Charleston and St Albans) Homework Assistants will help club members with their homework after school between the hours of 2:30-5:00pm, Monday-Thursday.

Program Helpers: (Charleston and St Albans) Individuals that enjoy working directly with children in our 6 Core Program areas: Education& Career Development, Health & Life Skills, The Arts, Character & Leadership Development, Sports, Fitness & Recreation, and Spiritual Development.

Specialized Instructors: (Charleston and St Albans) Individuals willing to teach specialized curriculum such as Bullying Prevention, Torch Club and STEM.

Data Entry: (Charleston and St Albans) Tech savvy individual able to enter program and attendance data.

Special Event Helpers: ( Charleston and St Albans) Individuals willing to help plan, organize and launch special events, such as Trunk or Treat, Kid’s Day Block Party, etc.

Receptionist: (St Albans) Individual with good communication and people skills to answer the phone and take messages.

Our one-time opportunities are perfect for those who want a quick and easy way to make a difference. These include activities like serving a meal any day of the year or ringing a bell during the holidays.

GROUP OPPORTUNITIES

We can accommodate your group’s desire to do something good together – whether family, friends,coworkers, civic or church groups. Group volunteer activities are typically project-based or part of a larger event.

ONGOING OPPORTUNITIES

Ongoing opportunities are designed for those who want to get involved on a regular basis. We’ll know you by your first name, and you’ll get to know the people in our programs. These include activities like working with youth, using your professional skills or serving after a disaster strikes.
